Morning Thanks

Garrison Keillor once said we'd all be better off if we all started the day by giving thanks for just one thing. I'll try.

Blizzard Voices--the Children's Blizzard

This Friday, February 17, a local cast will read through Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Ted Kooser's Blizzard Voices, a collection of pioneer reminiscences that make the Children's Blizzard of 1888 come alive. That massive storm terrorized the entire four-state region, often coming in the middle of the school day, creating a significant loss of life.

Readers include Keith Allen, Jim and Leanne Bonnecroy, Char Ten Clay, Cory and Lindsey Bauer, Nancy Landegent, Doug Calsbeek, and Jim Schaap.

Orange City, Friday, Feb 17, 8:00, at The Old Factory.

No admission will be charged, but a free-will offering for the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra will be taken.

Politics divide; tragedy unites.
